Suffering from Fungal Infections? Use Diflucan Yeast Infection Over the Counter

Many of us, whenever we experience infections in our body, we tend to look out for remedies we can find at home or medicines that we can buy over the counter at the local pharmacy or drugstore.  Patients who are infected with a yeast infection caused by Candida species, particularly Candida albicans. Fortunately, one of the most commonly used treatment for this yeast infection is the Diflucan yeast infection over the counter drug.

Unlike what you may initially think of, Candida yeasts are actually normally present inside healthy humans, and they appear mainly on the skin.  The growth of Candida yeasts are controlled into a manageable (does not harm the body) amount thanks to three factors: they compete with other microorganisms (such as bacteria occupying the exact same locations in the body), the relative dryness of the skin surface (Candida needs moisture in order to grow), and the body’s immune system.

An undeveloped or weakened immune system or certain metabolic disorders (such as diabetes) are some factors that can lead to candidiasis.  Conditions or diseases that are associated with candidiasis include steroids, stress, mononucleosis, HIV and AIDS, nutrient deficiency, and cancer treatments.  Candida species are normally present in the human body’s intestinal and oral flora.  With that said, when the body is bombarded with antibiotics to treat certain bacterial infections, this can lead to the elimination of the yeast’s competition inside the body, which results to it growing and thriving uncontrollably. It has been studied in the Western hemisphere that around 75% of women are inflicted with candidiasis at some point in their lives.

In the case of penile candidiasis (or candidiasis in men), the main causes include antibiotics, diabetes, weakened immunity, and of course, sexual intercourse with an infected person.  Even if male yeast infections are not that common, they do happen, and if this is the case, one should consult the doctor for proper treatment.

If you are prescribed by your doctor to get Diflucan yeast infection over the counter, then you need to know more about it and how it works to eliminate the yeast infection on or in your body.  If you have a vaginal yeast infection that only affects a part of your vagina, then a one-time dose of Diflucan yeast infection over the counter drug is sufficient enough to get rid 90% of the yeast infection.

To take Diflucan yeast infection over the counter medicine, you need to follow your doctor’s instructions.  Never take this medicine in higher or lower doses or any longer than it is recommended.  Depending on the infection that is to be treated, there are different doses of the Diflucan yeast infection over the counter drug. Most vaginal infections are usually treated with just 1 pill.  For other infections, the doctor may order the first dose to be a doubled dose.  Diflucan yeast infection over the counter drugs are relatively safe to take, and these can be taken with or without food.  Make sure that when you are prescribed this medicine, you need to complete the whole treatment course.  In most cases, symptoms improve even before the whole infection is eliminated.  When you skip doses or if you do not complete the treatment course, you are only increasing the chances of getting infected again, and worse, the infection may become resistant to antibiotics.  Keep in mind that Diflucan yeast infection over the counter drugs will never treat viral infections such as the common cold or flu.
